Federal Work Study
The Federal Work-study (FWS) program is one way that students may apply to work on the TCC campus. FWS is a form of federal financial aid offered to students who have requested it on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA, and who have qualified for the opportunity to earn FWS money for school while working on campus or off campus through approved programs.
Students may earn up to $8.63 an hour, depending on the position, for up to 20 hours a week during the academic year, which includes semester breaks. Placement may be either on or off campus with public or private non-profit agencies. Maximum earnings are determined from the estimated family contribution as determined by the FAFSA and the availability of funds. Applicants must be enrolled at TCC, complete a TCC work-study employment application, and be interviewed for placement. Students seeking Federal work-study employment should browse the work-study listings on the Employment section of the TCC website.
Changes to a student's FWS must be made through the FWS Change Form and submitted to a TCC campus. Students who wish to cancel a FWS award for more loan money, may do so by either declining the FWS form on the Financial Aid award package (available on the Financial Aid Dashboard through MyTCC), or through the Loan Change Form.
